Fred and Christina were married at the St. Regis in Deer Valley. It was a beautiful day and I was privileged to be shooting with the wonderful Nicolette Dixon of Nicolette Dixon Photography.  I truly enjoy second shooting, limited stress, and a chance to really capture some fun candid moments. I would recommend a second shooter at every wedding, whether it is a big or small.

I started to see the dark, rain heavy clouds rolling in when I was at work. I began to think to myself, (and out loud to my co-workers), “No, come on, not today! Any day next week, but not today.”  Today was the day that I am suppose to take Talana and Pauls engagements. Not only that, but also Talana’s family pictures (who were in from out of town). This was our one day that would work and I needed the weather to work with us too! Well, the first 25 minutes of the session was a down pour! We were shoveled inside and started to take some romantic shots on a little bench in a small hallway while the rain poured on and on. But by some miracle, the rain stopped!

I love the smell of the air after a good rain and not to mention the beautiful light that it leaves. We got to take the rest of Talana and Paul engagements in this fresh light. Although our feet may have gotten a little wet,  that didn’t damped the mood of this couple. They are full of constant laughter. I mean that literally! It was a blast hanging out with them and the rest of Talana’s family. Such great times.

I really try to seek out opportunities to expand my creativity and skill levels. When Kelli West and Courtney Bowlden mentioned they were stylizing four specific shoots, I knew I wanted to be on board! Sometimes it is hard in the middle of wedding season to think outside the box and remain creative. It was truly refreshing to breath in, play, and expand my typical limits. Because of the styling of this shoot, I specifically wanted to do some of Christina’s images in black and white. However, I still cannot resist the beautiful glow of a sunset color, so today we get both!

So, feeling in a rut? Really open up and see what can truly happen in a camera. This is part of the magic of photography that I truly love.

Check out more from this wonderful session from the wonderful Becca Lund.

This was the second part of a four part series.

Kylie and Clay decided to do a “First Look” which, if you ask me, may be one of my favorite parts of a wedding day.  They celebrated on one of Utah’s finest days at Bella Vista Reception in Lindon which hosts huge and wonderful windows over looking the gorgeous mountains. Kylie’s mother owns and operates a company that rents chocolate covered fountains, but they do not limit themselves to just Chocolate! One of my personal favorites was the peanut butter fountain. Mix a pretzel in the peanut butter  and you have a little taste of heaven! The wonderful catering was done by Monica Rogers of Full of Pepper Catering Company.
